When I first discovered the movement culture, Ido Portal, I was blown away. I had never seen someone move in such an athletic, explosive and aesthetic way before. One only has to watch the video to understand. What was this flow of movements? Gravity defying and beautiful to watch. I was hooked. Countless other Ido Portal videos show similar feats of grace, power and beauty.

As the movement culture developed, I saw more videos of others exhibiting forms of this flow. Ido documented a lot of concepts in his old blog, and Antranik combined a lot of the information succinctly here, but there has been huge progression in this form since 2009. Combining capoeira, dance, gymnastics, animal movements, breakdancing. People seemed to be speaking this language with their body. There is a clear system behind it as once you recognise the base pieces, you recognise them being practised, varied, transformed.

During my travels, I was isolated away from the western world. I didn’t have access to a coach. I tried understanding this form - “Locomotion”, but I had no idea what I was doing. I wished I had a clear resource to understand how to develop this practice.

This is the aim of the Locomotion Guide.

How to get started with Locomotion Training
